SÉURA’s new waterproof television honored at CES

January 08th, 2010

LAS VEGAS (January 8, 2010) — Electronic House recognized manufacturers in the consumer electronics industry for superior performance and innovation at the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show. SÉURA’s new Hydra™ Waterproof Television was among the winners.

Designed for use in showers, bathtubs, spas, kitchens and other indoor wet environments, the 19” LCD Hydra™ waterproof television brings technology to the most unexpected settings.

Hydra™ was awarded for its uniqueness, ease of installation, versatility and ability to directly serve the needs of the integrator.

Television displays are in demand for every room of the home – including wet environments like the kitchen and bathroom. For the first time ever, the Hydra™ provides a design-friendly solution.

Hydra™ is much more than a television. It is a personality. With unlimited color choices, design-savvy consumers can get a television that matches an imported marble shower, a colorful backsplash, or even a favorite shirt. Using Pantone’s® universal color-matching system, interior designers, consumers, and integrators can specify the exact color and shade to complement any space. This option is in addition to Hydra’s standard colors: black onyx and white pearl.

Designed to completely seal out water, the glass face is a high-end tempered glass with low iron content for a true color-correct viewing experience. The powder-coated stainless steel housing has been engineered with drip management in mind – with complete protection for electronic components. Plus, the unit is rated IP65 for absolute safety.

Hydra™ is rated IP65. This rating is determined by the television’s installation and sealed into the wall per the product specifications. The “6” in the rating indicates that the product is dust-tight and has complete protection against particle contamination. The “5” indicates that the product is protected and can withstand water projected by a nozzle without damaging effects. This rating allows for integration flexibility into a specified and customized home audio/video system. Through this product design, customers can easily dictate the product’s functionality at the point of install by selecting from several inputs such as RS 232, HDMI, and VGA among others.

While there are many types of complicated mounting brackets and slim profile televisions on the market, none provide a flush solution like the Hydra™. With cords and mounting fixtures completely hidden, this television is all form and function with zero aesthetic distractions. Out of the box, the unit is 3” in depth, designed to recess into an opening in the wall. Once installed, the Hydra™ television surface lies directly on the wall for a sleek presence.

The Hydra™ is a complete solution, making home integration a breeze. Designed to work seamlessly with systems like those manufactured by Savant, Crestron, AMX, and Control 4, this solution is already becoming a favorite among integrators. The built-in amplifier makes audio solutions easy. Other in-demand features include 16:9 widescreen ratio, 19” LCD display, HDMI input, PC input, VGA input, RS 232 control, and an ultra-sleek waterproof remote control.

Retail prices for the Hydra™ start at $2,999 for standard colors. Custom color units retail for $3,599.

Electronic House TOPS Award categories ranged from A/V systems and home theater, control and automation, energy management, home enhancements, networking and communications, security and safety, and services.

A panel of judges including industry figureheads and Electronic House editors considered creativity, innovation, equipment incorporated, obstacles overcome, aesthetics, and lifestyle benefits. Honored for its custom capabilities, easy installation, and designer look, SÉURA’s Hydra™ took home a TOPS award.
