Séura, an award-winning manufacturer of Lighted Mirrors, TV Mirrors and Outdoor Televisions unveiled the winner of their 2017 Studio Series design competition: Wanderlust designed by Yuri Tag. The contest, which received submissions from across the country, challenged hospitality designers to create lighted mirror designs that incorporate Séura’s new +Color capability that brings color to the lighted mirror category.
Tag’s collection, Wanderlust, is based off her winning design. “The idea started with the desire to create a timeless mirror that adds an element of nature to any space and could stand alone as a focal point,” explained Tag. “My design is largely influenced by the spirit of adventure.” Tag is a designer at Studio McCormack, a firm that specializes in hospitality and commercial design located in Costa Mesa, California. Prior to working as a designer, she gained inspiration from traveling around the world as a professional hip-hop dancer.
“This year’s Séura Studio Series was an incredible success,” said Gretchen Gilbertson, Séura CEO. “Our new +Color capability is the first in the industry to bring color into lighted mirror designs and we couldn’t wait to see what designer would create.”
Séura established an accomplished panel of hospitality designers to judge the contest this year including Trisha Poole, President of NEWH, Kavitha Iyer, Senior Design Manager Lifestyle Full Service at Marriott International, Stephanie Ward, Design Manager at Park Hotels & Resorts, PJ Barbour, Director of Renovations at Marriot Select Brands, Colleen Smith at Hirsh Bedner Associates and Gretchen Gilbertson, Séura Co-Founder and CEO.
As part of winning Séura Studio Series, Tag had an NEWH Student Scholarship donated in her name to Britt Barr, an interior design student at the New York School of Interior Design. Tag’s Wanderlust Collection will also be featured on the Séura website and in the Séura Lookbook, and it will become Séura’s first Lighted Mirror +Color collection available for hospitality specification.
“We know that the best way for us to advance beautiful technology is to partner with the design community and that is what Studio Series is all about,” Gilbertson said. “We are thrilled to bring Yuri’s collection to life. Her designs offer a beautiful balance of color and structure and show how lighted mirrors can play an even more active role in designed spaces.”
The collection debuted at BDNY 2017, a leading trade show held in New York City from November 12-13.
